The United States advanced to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 after defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0. Folarin Balogun scored the opening goal in the 45th minute, giving the Americans a deserved lead before halftime. Bosnia started strongly and created early chances, but the USA grew into the match and controlled much of the play.
The game changed in the second half when Balogun was sent off with a straight red card after a VAR review. Despite being reduced to ten players, the United States remained organized and secured the victory with a brilliant free-kick from Malik Tillman in the 82nd minute. The win sets up a Round of 16 clash against Belgium.
