Xabi Alonso Set to Become New Chelsea Head Coach

Xabi Alonso has agreed to become the new head coach of Chelsea ahead of the next season, according to reports in England.

The Spanish manager, aged 44, was identified as the club’s top priority by the Chelsea hierarchy. He reportedly travelled discreetly to London last week to meet club officials, where he formally accepted the sporting project presented to him.

Negotiations between both parties progressed smoothly, with complete agreement reached on a four-year contract. The official announcement is now expected shortly.

Alonso’s arrival is seen as a key step in Chelsea’s long-term rebuilding plan. Known for his tactical intelligence and leadership, he is expected to stabilize the squad, develop young talents, and restore the club’s competitiveness in both domestic and European competitions.

The former midfielder previously worked in youth coaching at Real Madrid and Real Sociedad and gained major attention after guiding Bayer Leverkusen to the 2023/24 league title. He also had a brief spell with Real Madrid’s senior team earlier this season.
