Sporting are now just one win away from securing the championship after another commanding 3–0 victory over Benfica, this time on the road.
Having already won the opening match of the final series by the same score at home, Sporting repeated the feat in Lisbon and took full control of the play-off. They can now seal the title in the next game, scheduled for Wednesday, in front of their own fans.
Benfica started brightly and even took an early lead in the first set, but Sporting reacted quickly, turning the momentum around and building a solid advantage. From that point on, they controlled proceedings and comfortably closed the set.
The second set was more competitive, with both sides level for long stretches. Still, Sporting managed to edge ahead at the key moment and held their nerve to double the lead.
In the third set, Benfica tried to stay in contention and kept things close, but Sporting once again proved more composed in decisive moments. The visitors maintained a narrow advantage and eventually closed out the match, completing another straight-sets win.
With two victories in the series, Sporting now have the upper hand and multiple chances to finish the job, while Benfica face a must-win situation to keep their hopes alive.
