Arrived in January, barely played… and was voted player of the season

Alisha Lehmann was voted Leicester City Women’s player of the season by the fans, despite making only a limited impact on the pitch after arriving during the winter transfer window.

The Switzerland international played just 501 minutes and scored only once, but still collected two individual awards from supporters. Her strike against Aston Villa Women on March 22 was also chosen as the club’s goal of the season.

Lehmann’s recognition has raised eyebrows given her relatively small role in the squad. The forward was only the 18th most-used player for the Foxes this season and started five of the nine matches she played after joining from Como Women in January.

Despite Leicester finishing at the bottom of the English league table, Lehmann’s popularity among supporters once again proved decisive in the club’s end-of-season voting.
