Sporting trigger clause as Bruno Ramos set to join first team next season

Sporting have finalized an important part of their squad planning for next season, with Brazilian defender Bruno Ramos set to become part of the first team in 2026/2027. The 21-year-old centre-back impressed the club’s hierarchy and is viewed as both a present and future solution for Sporting’s defense.

After spending two seasons on loan from Académico de Viseu, Sporting are now preparing to activate the €2 million purchase option included in the agreement. The defender had long been monitored internally, and his steady development, combined with his clear potential for further growth, convinced the club to secure his permanent signing.

Bruno Ramos fits the profile Sporting look for in a central defender. Quick in his reactions, strong in aerial duels, and comfortable playing out from the back, the Brazilian possesses qualities considered essential for a team that defends high up the pitch and builds attacks from defense. His physical attributes and tactical awareness have also been highly praised during the club’s internal evaluations.

Head coach Rui Borges has already informed the club that he wants Bruno Ramos integrated into the senior squad next season. He will not be the only academy-related promotion, as 19-year-old winger Flávio Gonçalves and 18-year-old wide player Salvador Blopa are also expected to join the first team in 2026/2027.

The move reinforces Sporting’s continued commitment to youth development and academy talent, with Bruno Ramos now preparing to take the next major step in his career and establish himself as part of the club’s future.
