Toluca secured their place in the CONCACAF Champions League final this Wednesday after a dominant 4-0 victory over Los Angeles FC in the second leg of the semi-finals.
Having lost the first leg 2-1 away from home, the Mexican side overturned the deficit in emphatic fashion at the Estadio Nemesio Diez, sealing a 5-2 aggregate win.
After a goalless first half, Brazilian forward Helinho opened the scoring early in the second half, converting a penalty in the 49th minute. Everardo López doubled the lead nine minutes later, putting Toluca firmly in control of the tie.
In the closing stages, former Sporting striker Paulinho delivered a standout performance, scoring twice in stoppage time (90+2’ and 90+4’) to complete a commanding victory.
The result confirms Toluca’s place in the final, where they will face Tigres on May 30. Stephen Eustáquio, on loan from FC Porto, was an unused substitute for Los Angeles FC.
