Mozambique have been placed in Group J alongside Senegal, Ethiopia and Sudan in the qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

The draw was held on Tuesday, May 19, in Cairo, Egypt, where the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is located.

The qualification phase will be played across three international windows: rounds 1 and 2 will take place between September 21 and October 6, 2026; rounds 3 and 4 between November 9 and 17, 2026; and rounds 5 and 6 between March 22 and 30, 2027.

According to CAF, AFCON 2027 will kick off on June 19, 2027, with the opening match, and conclude on July 17 with the final. The dates were approved by FIFA’s Council during its meeting in Vancouver, Canada.

The 2027 edition, officially named AFCON PAMOJA 2027, will be the first in history to be jointly hosted by three countries. Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will share hosting duties in an expanded format designed to increase regional integration and reach an estimated audience of over 400 million people across East Africa.
