Dodi Lukebakio admitted his disappointment after a frustrating first season with SL Benfica, sharing an emotional message on social media about both his personal struggles and the team’s collective failure to achieve their objectives.
The Belgian international revealed that injuries heavily affected his campaign, explaining that he arrived at Benfica already injured, returned to action, and then suffered another setback during the season. Despite the difficulties, Lukebakio insisted he would continue working hard and promised supporters that the squad would do everything possible to improve next season. He also thanked Benfica fans for their continued support.
Signed from Sevilla FC for €20 million, Lukebakio struggled to make the expected impact at the Estádio da Luz. The winger eventually lost his place in the starting line-up to Gianluca Prestianni and was involved in a tense moment with José Mourinho after reacting poorly to a substitution. Although speculation over a possible departure increased during the season, his latest comments appear to suggest a desire to stay and fight for improvement.
