Luana Dourado delivered an outstanding performance to win the junior event at the Cascais Boogie Chicks 2026, the opening stage of the European junior bodyboard circuit held in Carcavelos.
The 16-year-old Portuguese athlete dominated the final, posting a score of 12.50 to secure a deserved victory after narrowly missing out the previous year. “I’m really happy to win this stage. It slipped away from me last year, so this means a lot,” she said.
Competing in one of the most popular editions of the event with over 200, Dourado stood out for her consistency and confidence in the water. She also reached the Open final, despite the physical toll of a demanding day that saw her compete in multiple heats.
“I was a bit tired by the time I reached the Open final, but I managed to show the work I’ve put in throughout the year,” she explained, already looking ahead to the rest of the season.
In the Open category, victory went to Luna Hardman, who took advantage of key waves in a challenging sea to secure the win. Initially not planning to compete, the Brazilian made the most of the opportunity and is now considering further appearances on the European circuit.
With strong performances and a vibrant atmosphere, the event once again confirmed its status as one of the premier bodyboard competitions in Europe.
