Left Out by Ancelotti, João Pedro Says Frustrations Are Part of Football

Chelsea forward João Pedro reacted with disappointment after being left out of Brazil’s 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup announced by Carlo Ancelotti in Rio de Janeiro.

The 24-year-old striker, who has scored 20 goals this season, shared an emotional message on social media after missing out on the final selection.

“I always tried to give my best at all times. Unfortunately, it was not possible to achieve the dream of representing my country at a World Cup, but I remain calm and focused, as I always try to be. Joys and frustrations are part of football,” João Pedro wrote.

Despite the setback, the Chelsea attacker pledged his support to the national team and said he would be cheering from home as Brazil chase their sixth World Cup title.

João Pedro’s omission surprised many observers, especially considering he had been included in three of Brazil’s last five squads since Carlo Ancelotti took charge around a year ago.
