SL Benfica have added Akpe Victory to their list of defensive targets as the club prepares for a busy summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old centre-back, currently playing for Zalaegerszegi TE, has attracted attention with a series of impressive performances in the Hungarian league. Benfica have reportedly already made exploratory contacts with the club, although no official offer has been submitted so far.
Standing at 1.95 meters tall, Akpe Victory is viewed as a physically dominant defender with strong aerial ability and significant development potential. This season, the Nigerian youngster has contributed one goal and one assist in 15 appearances for the Hungarian side.
Before moving to Hungary on a free transfer last season, Akpe played for FK Banga Gargždai, where he made 32 appearances and gained valuable senior experience at a young age.
Benfica are not alone in the race for the defender. Clubs from Germany, Spain, France, Scotland, and Switzerland are also believed to be monitoring his progress, which could increase competition for his signature during the upcoming transfer market.
Despite the growing interest, Akpe Victory is still considered an affordable target, with reports suggesting a transfer fee in the region of €5 million could be enough to secure the player.
The Lisbon club are actively exploring multiple reinforcements across several positions, with centre-back identified as one of the main priorities. Benfica could move for one or even two new central defenders depending on departures and market opportunities this summer.
