Spain's national team has returned home after winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing the trophy back to Madrid and sparking celebrations across the country.
La Roja secured their second world title by defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final, ending a 16-year wait since Spain's historic triumph at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Thousands of supporters gathered in the Spanish capital to welcome the newly crowned world champions.
The team's flight landed at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport shortly before 11:50 a.m. local time. Captain Rodri and head coach Luis de la Fuente were among the first members of the delegation to step off the aircraft, proudly carrying the World Cup trophy.
Celebrations will continue throughout the day, beginning with an official reception hosted by the Spanish Royal Family at the Palace of Zarzuela.
Later, the players and coaching staff will travel through the streets of Madrid on an open-top bus, allowing supporters to celebrate alongside the team. Tens of thousands of fans are expected to line the route as Spain showcase the trophy that crowned them world champions once again.
The main event will take place at the iconic Plaza de Cibeles, where a large entertainment programme featuring live music, DJs and performances is scheduled before the team's arrival at approximately 8:00 p.m.
After writing another unforgettable chapter in Spanish football history, the world champions are now set to celebrate their achievement with an entire nation united in pride and joy.
