Marseille Facing European Competition Ban Over Financial Fair Play Concerns

Marseille could be excluded from European competitions due to alleged breaches of UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations.

The club, which finished fifth in Ligue 1 and secured direct qualification for the UEFA Europa League, is currently under review by UEFA's Club Financial Control Body. According to French newspaper L'Équipe, Monaco and Strasbourg are closely monitoring the situation, as they could benefit from any potential sanctions imposed on Marseille.

The case has been under investigation since Tuesday, although a final decision is not expected before the end of the week. Marseille faces the possibility of a range of penalties, including a one-season ban from European competitions if UEFA determines that the club has failed to comply with Financial Fair Play requirements.

Should Marseille be excluded, Monaco and Strasbourg would move up in the allocation of European places awarded through Ligue 1.
