V. Guimarães: Rui Rodrigues unveils election manifesto with ten major commitments

Current vice-president promises to “open a new cycle” at Vitória de Guimarães

Vitória de Guimarães’ presidential campaign continued at full pace with several initiatives throughout the day, highlighted by the official launch of Rui Rodrigues’ electoral manifesto and campaign website.

The current vice-president for financial affairs, who is running under List D with the slogan “Conquering the Future in 2026”, presented ten key commitments aimed at reshaping the future of the club.

Rui Rodrigues outlines ambitious vision for Vitória

Rui Rodrigues’ programme focuses on sporting growth, financial sustainability, infrastructure development and closer engagement with supporters.

The candidate’s ten commitments include:

  • Vitória first above everything
  • Football Intelligence department focused on scouting, data analysis, performance and strategic recruitment
  • Youth development as a competitive identity, with the ambition of having 50 per cent of the first-team squad formed at the club
  • “Academy of the Future”, a new integrated training centre for men’s football, women’s football and youth development
  • High-performance structure for women’s football, aiming to triple the number of athletes by 2030 and guarantee equal conditions
  • A modern and active Estádio D. Afonso Henriques operating 365 days per year
  • Vitória ID, a digital application for members and supporters
  • Transparent and sustainable management, with financial control, performance metrics and stronger communication with members
  • Reaching 40,000 active members by 2030
  • Creation of Fundação Vitória and Universidade Vitória

“This strategic programme is born from the desire to open a new cycle for Vitória,” Rui Rodrigues stated.

Campaign trail intensifies ahead of elections

Rui Rodrigues also held a clarification session at the Ponte Parish Council after visiting the local club and meeting Pedro Sousa, president of the Braga Football Association, earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, List A candidate Belmiro Pinto dos Santos organised a public session at the Creixomil Parish Council auditorium after previously attending an event promoted by supporters’ group White Angels at the Guimarães Volunteer Firefighters’ hall, which also featured former Vitória coach Manuel Machado.

At the same time, Júlio Vieira de Castro, candidate for List B, hosted his first clarification session at the Nespereira Parish Council following the presentation of his electoral programme earlier in the week.

Viriato Sampaio highlights transfer strategy

List C candidate Viriato Sampaio followed a similar campaign agenda with an event at Escola EB1 Agras in Gandarela.

The candidate recently defended the importance of player sales as part of modern football management.

“Selling players is part of a football club’s business model. There is nothing wrong with that. The important thing is managing those sales properly,” Viriato Sampaio said.

He also suggested expanding the stadium’s hospitality and VIP areas as a way to increase matchday revenue.
