Hjulmand Rallying the Team Ahead of Sporting-Vitória: “We Feel the Same Frustration”

Morten Hjulmand rallied the team ahead of the final stretch of Sporting’s season. The Lions shared a heartfelt message from their captain on social media: “I am not just speaking to you as captain, I speak as one of you, as someone who feels every game, every victory, and every difficult moment.”

The midfielder, who is still recovering from an injury sustained against FC Porto on April 22, added: “We know it hasn’t been easy. We feel the same frustration and the same demands, but we also know who we are, what we have built together, and what this group has already given to the club. We have already made history, we have given you joys that will last forever, and we do not forget that.”

Sporting has not won in five games and has dropped to third place. Ahead of the clash with Vitória de Guimarães, scheduled to kick off at 20:15, Hjulmand emphasized: “We continue to work every day and fight in every training session, game, and play with the same pride as always. It is with you that we will continue to fight because a lion never turns its back, a lion never gives up, a lion fights until the very last second.”

“As long as one of us is on the field, there will always be one of you there with us. Because we are from the breed that will never bow. Together, always, until the end,” he concluded. Rui Borges admitted that it is “unlikely” Hjulmand will play again this season.
