13-Year-Old Boy Dies During Spain's World Cup Celebrations

A 13-year-old boy has died and three other people were seriously injured following a tragic accident during Spain's FIFA World Cup victory celebrations in Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca.

According to Marca, the incident occurred shortly after midnight when a stone fountain in Glorieta del Árbol Gordo suddenly collapsed as large crowds gathered to celebrate Spain's triumph. The boy suffered fatal injuries after being struck by falling masonry.

Emergency services rushed the victim and two other injured people to the Ciudad Rodrigo Health Centre, but the teenager later died from his injuries. Authorities have not released details about the condition of the third seriously injured person.

The tragedy was one of two fatal incidents reported in Spain during the World Cup celebrations. In Sonseca, Toledo, a man in his twenties reportedly died after suffering convulsions while watching the World Cup final in the town's main square. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Spain secured the FIFA World Cup title by defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The nationwide celebrations that followed were overshadowed by the tragic events, prompting condolences from across the country.

Authorities are expected to investigate the collapse of the fountain to determine the cause of the accident.
