Tottenham Avoid Premier League Relegation with Crucial Everton Victory

Tottenham Hotspur F.C. secured their Premier League survival with a tense 1-0 victory over Everton F.C. on the final day of the season. The Spurs entered the match sitting 17th in the table and facing the real possibility of relegation for the first time in the Premier League era.

The decisive moment came in the first half when João Palhinha scored the only goal of the game, squeezing a shot past Jordan Pickford and just over the goal line. Tottenham then held firm defensively to secure a vital three points and guarantee their place in the top flight for another season.

Despite West Ham United F.C. defeating Leeds United F.C. 3-0, Tottenham’s win ensured they avoided relegation. The result means that West Ham, Burnley F.C., and Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. will drop to the Championship next season.

It marks the first time Tottenham have come so close to relegation in the Premier League era, which began in 1992. The North London club last played outside England’s top division in 1977 before earning promotion back after just one season. Tottenham ended the 2025/26 campaign with 10 wins, 11 draws, and 17 defeats their lowest win total in a season since 1935.
