Brazilian midfielder signs five-year deal with €80 million release clause
Sporting CP have officially confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Pedro Lima, who joins the club on a five-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 23-year-old arrives at Alvalade after impressing for Aves SAD and has been protected with an €80 million release clause. Sporting reportedly paid €4 million for the midfielder, with a further €2 million included in performance-related bonuses.
Pedro Lima had already reached an agreement with the Portuguese champions several weeks ago, but the transfer was only officially announced this Thursday.

The Brazilian midfielder spoke with great enthusiasm after being unveiled as Sporting’s newest signing, admitting that joining the Lisbon giants is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.
“It is an immense joy and a huge honour to reach this level and represent a massive club like Sporting. I cannot wait to get started. I have worked since childhood for an opportunity like this, and this is recognition for everything I have done to get here,” said Pedro Lima.
The midfielder also recalled his previous experiences at Alvalade while playing as an opponent and praised Sporting supporters for the atmosphere they create.
“It is an incredible club with an incredible atmosphere. I had the opportunity to play twice at Alvalade. The fans are amazing and it is a very difficult environment for opponents.”
Versatile midfielder ready to help in any position
Pedro Lima highlighted his versatility and willingness to contribute wherever needed in midfield.
“I have already played in every midfield position and I will give my maximum in any role. Fans can expect someone who will fight for the entire match and give everything for this shirt.”
The Brazilian also reflected on the important stages of his career, including spells at Palmeiras, Norwich City and Osijek, experiences he believes helped him mature both professionally and personally.
“It was a huge learning period for me, also as a person. Those experiences helped prepare me for this opportunity and for this moment.”
Champions League dream becomes reality
One of Pedro Lima’s biggest motivations is the opportunity to represent Sporting in the UEFA Champions League next season.
“I always dreamed of reaching this level. Knowing that I will have the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season is the realisation of another dream.”
The midfielder ended his presentation with a strong promise to Sporting supporters.
“I promise total commitment and dedication in training sessions and matches to help this club win everything. Whether at home or away, I will always give my maximum to win.”
